This applet was written originally for HSBC to allow all their employees in Mexico to send short messages to Skytel customers. After Skytel started offering such a service I expanded the program's functionality to allow messages to be sent simultaneously to an e-mail address as well as to their Skytel device.

Much later, this applet was used in Instant Intranet, a product that I co-developed at IBM.
