Welcome

This is the home page of Huibert Aalbers. I have spent over twenty years developing software, originally in assembly language, later in C and more recently in Java and Objective-C. The goal of this page is to share some of these projects.

New Cocoa project

I have recently started working on a new cocoa project. Tentatively called Professional Crossword Designer, the goal of this new app is to provide graphic designers with a tool that will allow them to easily create all kind of word games (crosswords, word find, etc.) and include them in their print projects.

Storm custom tag library

Over the last few years I have spent much of my time as a Java evangelist. This wasn't hard for me since I really believe that Java offers significant benefits for corporate users who want to integrate all their systems. However, it soon became obvious to me that despite all it's advantadges, many of my customers were unable to create even simple web applications using Java. I soon found out that the main problem lied in the way that Java was tought and the lack of clear guidelines on how to write simple web applications. This is how the Storm project was born.

Apple IIgs freeware

I have released all the software I wrote in the late 80's as freeware to allow Apple IIgs fans to legally use it on emulators such as KEGS and remember the good old days of 8/16 bits computing.

Java applets

Many believe that applets failed to succeed because the technology wasn't mature enough. I believe that with a little extra work great results could be achieved. Here is a sample of what I was writing during the early Java years.

Strip Blackjack for Mac OSX

Almost 15 years after writing this game in 680x0 assembly language on my Macintosh IIci I decided to rewrite it in Objective-C using Cocoa. Download it here.
